ABW: An Architectural Yearbook

About This Project

We were commissioned to work with architects ABW on a yearbook to showcase their designs to both potential clients and existing contacts. Combining our design, copywriting and print management expertise, their brief was to create something aesthetically pleasing and informative, which highlighted their ethos, technical ability and experience.

We began by interviewing key members of the ABW team to draw out their specialisms, and really understand their ethos and approach. As we compiled photography, we carefully planned the yearbook, dividing their work into key sectors. We highlighted their technical expertise with bold use of their stunning photography, introducing the human element of the buildings they design and how they’re used, and by reproducing detailed plans and designs. The text demonstrated how each building was designed to fulfil a specific purpose, underlining how ABW’s innovative approach and attention to detail enhances both the experience of the user, and the physical environment.

Our job was to let ABW’s stunning photography speak for itself, and highlight the ideas that made them distinctive as a practice. We worked with them to develop a house copy style that was confident and experienced, without being overly technical, drawing attention to the more subtle and often unseen areas of their work. The design showcased their photography, creating an aspirational quality which we reinforced by choosing a special textured paper for the cover and finishing with a spot varnished, debossed title.
